British-born blues and rock singer Joe Cocker has died at the age of 70 after battling lung cancer.

Cocker passed away at his home in Colorado, according to his management staff.

The singer-songwriter became famous in the 1960s when his cover of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends" reached number one on the charts. He is also well-known for the song "Up Where We Belong," a duet he recorded with Jennifer Warnes for the movie An Officer and a Gentleman.
